Wingham Wool Work, leading supplier of fibres, yarns, dyes and equipment to textile workers – spinners, dyers, weavers, embroiderers, knitters....., will be filling the Stour Hall on the weekend of 2nd/3rd October 2010 with examples of most of their range. On Saturday there will be a Sample Spinning Workshop and on Sunday a Dabble Day.
Over the weekend on show will be looms and equipment for weavers; wheels, carders and other spinning apparatus; wet and dry felting tools; dyes; knitting needles and crochet hooks; embroidery and knitting/crochet yarns, books galore and mountains of the most scrumptious fibres of every hue, tint and shade of the rainbow, and of every type you could ever wish to see. These range from fibres from many breeds of sheep, to silk fibres to cashmere, alpaca, camel and to countless other exotic fibres as well as all kinds of synthetic fibres.
Purchases may be made throughout the weekend—credit/debit cards are accepted.
Saturday: Sampling Workshop. A feast of fantastic fibres from Yorkshire based firm Wingham Wool Work, (animal, vegetable and synthetic) to sample and buy.
Spinners may bring their own spindles or wheels, or (for a small fee) borrow wheels on site, and may spin samples of the loose stock of fibres on display. Facilities will be available for the use of felters to make samples. There will be no charge for the fibres spun or felted during the workshop and advice will be available on the use of fibres if required. If time allows, basic servicing of spinning wheels will be undertaken. Parts supplied will be charged for and a fee may be made for the service, depending upon the work required.
There will be also equipment, materials and books for spinning, weaving, dyeing, knitting, embroidery, silk paper making, felting, embellishing etc, etc, so that non-spinners or felters need not go home empty handed!
Entry to the Sampling Workshop costs £6 in advance, £7 on the day
