‘FibreFocus 2010’ – An Exhibition of Work by the Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers
The Dorset Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, founded in 1947 and one of the oldest Guilds in the country, will be holding an exhibition in The Bow Room from Thursday 30 September to Sunday 3 October 2010, with a special preview for invited guests in the evening of Wednesday 29 September.
The title of the Exhibition ‘FibreFocus 2010’ reflects the diverse activities that will be on offer at the exhibition. As well as a Guild Exhibition, demonstrations, a display of archives going back over sixty years and a sales table the Guild be supporting the two events on Saturday and Sunday 2 and 3 October organised by specialist suppliers, Wingham Wool Work. At the Dabble Day on Sunday 3 October Guild members will be enhancing the choices on offer and there will be an opportunity to try tapestry weaving, 4 shaft loom weaving, wet felting, needle felting, inkle loom braiding, Kumihimo braiding, knitting loom weaving, modular knitting and Dorset buttons, so the skills to experience will be numerous and varied.
This exhibition will be an excellent chance to learn about the Guild, join if you wish, view an impressive array of work, purchase some original pieces, sample a variety of yarns and have a really good ‘Dabble’. A very warm welcome awaits you.
